7 Foods That Kill Worms in the Intestine

Intestinal worms (parasites like roundworms, pinworms, or tapeworms) usually require proper medical treatment. Prescription antiparasitic medications are the most reliable and effective solution.

That said, certain foods have traditionally been used to help create an environment that may discourage parasites. These foods are not guaranteed cures, but they may offer supportive benefits.

1️⃣ Garlic

Garlic contains allicin, a compound with antimicrobial and antiparasitic properties. Raw garlic has traditionally been used to help combat intestinal parasites.

How to use: 1–2 crushed cloves daily (if tolerated).

2️⃣ Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds contain cucurbitacin, which may help paralyze worms so the body can eliminate them naturally.

How to use: Eat a small handful (about 1 cup raw, unsalted) on an empty stomach.

3️⃣ Papaya Seeds

Papaya seeds have shown some antiparasitic activity in small studies.

How to use: Dry and crush seeds, then mix 1 teaspoon into honey or smoothies.

4️⃣ Carrots

High in fiber and beta-carotene, carrots may help support gut health and immune response.

How to use: Eat raw carrots daily.

5️⃣ Coconut

Coconut (especially unsweetened flakes or coconut oil) has been used in traditional remedies for parasites.

How to use: 1 tablespoon coconut oil daily or fresh coconut meat.

6️⃣ Turmeric

Turmeric contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that may support gut health.

How to use: Add to warm milk, tea, or meals.

7️⃣ Cloves

Cloves may help destroy parasite eggs due to their antimicrobial compounds.

How to use: Clove tea or ground cloves in food.

⚠️ Important Medical Reminder

If you suspect intestinal worms, symptoms may include:

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Itching around the anus (especially at night)
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea or diarrhea
  • Visible worms in stool

See a healthcare provider. Most intestinal worms are safely treated with medications such as albendazole or mebendazole. Delaying treatment can allow infection to worsen.
