Chocolate pound cake

Posted on February 11, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a rich, moist Chocolate Pound Cake recipe — dense, buttery, and perfect with coffee or ice cream.

🍫 Classic Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups (350g) sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C (325°F).
Grease and line a loaf pan (9×5 inch).
  2. Cream butter & sugar
Beat together until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes).
  3. Add eggs
Add one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine
Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with milk.
Start and end with dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
  6. Bake
Pour into the pan and smooth the top.
Bake 60–70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool
Let cool in pan 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Optional Chocolate Glaze 🍫

Mix:

  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp cream

Melt together and pour over cooled cake.

If you’d like, I can also give you:

  • A super moist version with sour cream
  • A marble pound cake
  • A fudgier “bakery-style” version
  • A smaller batch recipe

Just tell me what you prefer 😊
