Ohhh yes — this is one of those “throw it in and let it work its magic” comfort meals. 🥬✨
Cabbage becomes tender, slightly sweet, and incredibly flavorful in the slow cooker.

🥬 Slow Cooker Cabbage Comfort Bowl

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 large green cabbage, chopped into thick wedges
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or sausage
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 can (14–15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 1 cup cooked rice (for heartier texture)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Brown the meat first
    In a skillet, cook ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Layer in the slow cooker
    • Bottom: cabbage
    • Add carrots, onion, garlic
    • Spoon browned meat over top
    • Pour tomatoes and broth over everything
    • Add seasonings + Worcestershire
  3. Cook
    • LOW for 6–8 hours
    • HIGH for 3–4 hours
  4. Optional finish
    Stir in cooked rice during the last 20 minutes if using.

🧀 Make It “Guests Will Crave It” Level

  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar or mozzarella on top before serving.
  • Add a splash of apple cider vinegar at the end to brighten flavors.
  • Serve with crusty bread for dipping.
