SWEET POTATO BAKE

Here’s a simple, comforting Sweet Potato Bake you can make as a side dish (or even a main with a salad).


🍠 Classic Savory Sweet Potato Bake

Ingredients

  • 4–5 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or mozzarella)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Arrange half the sweet potato slices in the dish.
  4. Sprinkle with half the garlic, salt, pepper, herbs, and cheese.
  5. Layer remaining sweet potatoes on top and repeat seasoning.
  6. Pour cream evenly over the dish.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and tender.
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

🍯 Optional Sweet Version (Holiday Style)

Add to the sliced sweet potatoes:

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Top with:

  • Mini marshmallows or
  • A crumble made from flour, butter, brown sugar, and chopped pecans

Bake the same way.
